ES1 Term 3, 2015
Lots of excited children in KC returning for Term 3 with lots of wonderful holiday stories to tell. Please take a look at their paintings.
KC used the colAR (now Quiver) iPad app to bring their brightly coloured fish to life!
KC read the story 'Rainbow Fish to the Rescue' which featured a shark that the fish were able to outwit in the end to save their friend. They painted their sharks and they are now swimming happily under the sea with their rainbow fish, starfish and whale.
KC spoke about road safety in class as part of their Heath/PD unit 'Play It Safe' this term. They have learnt that if they stop, look, listen and think before they cross the road, it can help keep them safe. They were given one of these important safety messages and then popped it into the WordFoto app on the iPad to help them get their safety message across. (Click the speaker sound icon to enjoy the music too!)
KC have continued with their work on road safety and this time they used the 'Puppet Pals' iPad app to create a special road safety message to help keep everyone safe.
KC had a fantastic time being scientists at our Science Fair. They looked at spiders, starfish, beetles, even an octopus with the microscopes from Heathcote and Bulli High School. They watched a volcano erupt and recreated this themselves with baking soda and vinegar. They found out that an egg will float in salty water and sink in fresh water. They also discovered when you mix oil and water the oil will rise to the top no matter how hard you shake and try to mix it. And they tried really hard! They also had fun seeing how far their gliders could fly.
KC used colour beads to create a bracelet for themselves. They used three or four different colours and had to make a pattern.
KC, KF & K/1D had a fabulous day at the Sydney Aquarium today. A bus trip to the city and seeing all the sea creatures they have been studying in class made for a very exciting experience.
KC drew wonderful pictures of their special place at home as part of their HSIE work on 'Special Places'. They recorded themselves talking about their special place using the 'Explain Everything' app on the iPad.
As part of their 'Play It Safe' Health/PD unit KC have been talking about how they can keep themselves safe while at school. They took some photos of themselves following the rules we have at school that help keep us safe every day.
A 'Happy Father's Day' message from KC.
KC thoroughly enjoyed their first ever Grandparents Day. They loved dancing and having their grandparents, great grandparents, parents and friends visit them in our classroom and sharing their book work, art work, reading books and showing their websites on our school Intranet.
A great day was had by KC at their 'Under The Sea' party. You can see some of the fun in the slideshow below.
KC brought their sharks to life using the colAR app on their iPads!
KC were inspired by 'International Dot Day' to create their own colourful dots and they were able to bring their dots to 'life' using the colAR app on their iPads. They also created wonderful pictures using two black felt dots.
To celebrate 'Talk Like A Pirate Day' KC took photos of themselves on the iPads and used the 'Make Me Pirate' app to change themselves into pirates. Can you recognise any of these plundering pirates?
