KC, after reading about ANZAC Day, investigated the poppy as a symbol of remembrance; they looked at photos of poppy fields and they also looked at some paintings of poppies by Claude Monet. Inspired by what they saw, KC painted their own poppy fields in the style of Monet, dabbing their red paint on with different sized brushes to create wonderful textures on their green crayon background.
KC read the story about the Little Red Hen as part of their HSIE work this term on 'Our Needs'. The poor little hen had trouble finding someone to help her plant her wheat. KC said they could help! They planted some wheat seeds and really hope they will grow!
KC wished all their mums the most wonderful Mothers' Day. Here is their special Mothers' Day message.
KC's Mothers' Day cards were made with lots of love.
KC used the Chatterpix app on the iPad to put together what they have learnt so far in their investigations of 3D objects.
KC enjoyed growing wheat and after looking at Vincent van Gogh's painting 'Wheat Field and Crows' were inspired. They used oil pastel crayons to create the texture of the wheat field and a night sky. They used white to create a glowing moon and they also tried to create perspective with the changing size of their dirt road winding through the wheat field.
The book chosen for National Simultaneous Storytime this year was 'The Brothers Quibble' by Aaron Blabey. KC really enjoyed this year's book and it led to some great discussion about how even though your brother or sister may annoy you sometimes, you love them no matter what!
KC have been looking at healthy food as part of their Health Unit this term 'Healthy Habits'. They used plasticine to create models of some of their favourite types of fruit - apples, bananas, pears, oranges and grapes.
KC enjoyed the Responsible Pet Education Program. Their pictures and recordings below reveal what they enjoyed about their session and what they also learnt.
KF students decorated Grug's house. They painted the walls and made him some furniture. Then they wrote about it. Grug had a great time walking around his house. If you look at the houses you can find Grug on the ladder, near the fireplace or even in his bed!!
As part of their work on 'Healthy Habits' this term KC looked at the healthy food they should be eating every day. They had some fun using the 'Vegetable Me' app to transform their faces into a delicious vegetable and fruit collage! Please see their amazing transformation below.
KC compared the mass of two objects by holding one in each hand and using their bodies to balance each object. Lots of learning, lots of noise and lots of fun!
KC as part of their 'Healthy Habits' unit this term, have been talking about how important it is to wash your hands to stay healthy. They did some 'app smashing' to create a slideshow with their special hand washing messages. First they used the Tellagami app to create talking avatars or 'Gamis' and then they used the WordFoto app to create their different messages. Please view their work below and learn how to zap those germs!
KC wondered what would happen if a very heavy elephant shared a seesaw with Grug? KC used the iMotion app on the iPad today to create a short stop motion animation. Please take a look and find out what happened!
